My Aunt Vera passed away on Dec. 14, 2015. She was 95 years old. When growing up I didn’t get to see Aunt Vera very often, so I didn’t know her very well back then. After my parents moved to Florida Aunt Vera eventually moved there also, so I got to know her much better. She was a wonderful person with a good sense of humor. Every time I went to visit my parents I looked forward to seeing Aunt Vera also. One of my best memories is a trip we took down there just before Christmas one year. We went over to Aunt Vera’s for dinner. She had made braciole. I had never seen this before, and I had no idea what it was. I had to ask my father what it was (because it looked kind of strange). It was absolutely delicious! Aunt Vera was a very good cook, which I’m sure she learned from her mother. I still make braciole to this day, and my eldest granddaughter always asks for it. Aunt Vera, yours, and Grandma’s, legacy still lives on!
